INTRODUCTION:
Success in any
math class depends primarily on you, the student. Your
study and work habits will directly affect your success
in mastering abstract mathematical concepts and
developing the skills necessary to apply them. You must
utilize fully any available resource such as assistance
before or after school, tutoring or interactive sites on
the Internet, private tutoring, and study groups. There
are no shortcuts, no substitutes for hard work and
consistent effort. Never do less than your best.
RIGHTS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a student you have the right to interact with an
instructor and fellow students in a classroom
environment that is well-ordered, peaceful, safe,
non-threatening and conducive to learning. It is the
responsibility of each student to participate in class
activities only in ways that make this positive learning
environment possible and assessable to all students.
THREATS OF VIOLENCE:
Any reference to or threat of violence whether against
people or property will be taken seriously and dealt
with immediately by appropriate authorities.
POLICIES:
Policies governing
student activities and conduct and the consequences for
deviations or violations are published in TUSD’s
Guidelines For Rights and Responsibilities in Grades
K through 12 and the Santa Rita High
School Student Handbook. It is imperative that
every student becomes familiar with the contents of
both. To protect your rights and ensure orderly and
productive class periods all TUSD and SRHS rules and
regulations will be strictly enforced in the classroom
as will the following extensions of or additions to
those policies.
1. Contribute to the
establishment and maintenance of a positive learning
environment by not engaging in any activity that might
distract from or disrupt the learning process for you or
others. You may exercise your right to not take
advantage of the learning opportunities presented to you
each day but you do not have the right to engage in any
activity that will deprive your classmates of those
opportunities.
2. Bring necessary
materials (text, paper, pencils, calculator, etc.) to
class each day.
3. All assignments are to
be completed using loose-leaf paper and a pencil.
Assignments written on paper with ragged edges (torn
from spiral or three ring binders), written in pen, or
that are illegible are not acceptable and
will not be graded.
4. Write your name,
assignment data (topic, page), date, and period in the
upper right corner of each page of all assignments.
5.
Hall passes will be issued in compliance with
SRHS policy or in case of an emergency.
6. Be in your assigned seat
and ready to work when the tardy bell rings. Remain
seated throughout the period unless you have permission
to move.
7. You must have permission
to speak and must not interrupt any person already
speaking. Loud or continuous talking or use of profane
language will not be tolerated.
8. Food or beverages of any
kind are not allowed in the classroom (water bottles
excepted).
9. Do not bring any type of
audio, video, communication, or other electronic device
into the classroom (approved calculators excepted).
These items will be confiscated and must be picked up by
a parent.
10. Hats, bandanas and
other types of head coverings must not be worn in the
classroom.
11. Grades are based on
individual achievement. Therefore, cheating or false
representation of any kind will not be tolerated. This
includes, but is not limited to, using unauthorized
materials or devices and giving or receiving
unauthorized assistance on any graded assignment. Any
assignment on which such activity is observed or evident
will be recorded as an assignment for which no credit is
given. Parents will be notified immediately.
The following statement must be written on each page
of every assignment except homework: “This is my own
work.”
12.
After school or lunch detention will be assigned for
disruptive or irresponsible conduct. It is school
policy to assign detention to a student who is tardy to
class more than four times.
13. Failure to comply
with TUSD, Santa Rita, or classroom policies will result
in appropriate corrective actions to include parent
contact, detention, or administrative referral.
14. Have you (the
student) passed the AIMS Math graduation test
requirements?
_____YES (or) _____NO.
I have read and understand Mr.
Nussberger's Class Management Contract for
the 2007 - 2008 school year. Any comments I wish to make
at this time have been noted below.
