GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND RANK IN CLASS

A student's grade point average and rank in class is based on all work that the student carries for credit during his or her high school career.  If a student fails a course and subsequently completes the course satisfactorily, the higher grade is used in computing the grade point average and rank in class.

Students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses receive weighted grades; i.e., an "A" in an A.P. course will give a student a 5.0, rather than a 4.0 grade point, a "B” will equal a 4.0 rather than a 3.0 grade point, etc.  It is possible for Advanced Placement students to have a grade point average higher than a 4.0 grade point, or straight A average.

Students are ranked at the end of the first semester of their freshman year, and each subsequent semester. Transcripts are updated each semester, and copies of the official transcript will be sent to colleges and employers upon the student's request.  The student's official transcript is the certification of graduation.
